Embarking on a 10-day Thailand Itinerary is something that takes some planning and organization. Once you’re there, your trip will be full of unforgettable adventure, rich with cultural experiences, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant city life. In this comprehensive guide, I’ll share a Thailand in 10 days itinerary. Although I will also suggest a few add-ons to make the trip closer to two weeks, if you have the time to spare. This Thailand Itinerary blends the bustling energy of Bangkok, the stunning beauty of Krabi, the mesmerizing Phi Phi Islands, and the cultural charm of Chiang Mai. Plus, I’ll also share why I chose Krabi over Phuket and I’d suggest you do the same.

Thailand Itinerary Day 1-3: Bangkok

Where to Stay in Bangkok

There are a ton of different hotels to stay at in Bangkok, so it really depends on what part of the city you’d prefer to stay in. I had the opportunity to stay at Avani+ Riverside and also visit Anantara Riverside. I would highly recommend either of these hotels. Here are some of the features and reasons.

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration

Your journey begins as you touch down at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, a city known as the ‘City of Angels.’ After checking into your hotel, dive headfirst into the heart of Thai culture with a visit to the Grand Palace. This architectural marvel houses the revered Emerald Buddha and offers a captivating introduction to Thailand’s rich history and artistic heritage. It offers absolutely stunning architecture and it’s just a beautiful place to spend the afternoon.

Day 2: Temples and Street Life

On your second day, immerse yourself in the spiritual allure of Wat Pho, home to the colossal reclining Buddha. Enhance your experience by taking a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River, winding your way through Bangkok’s intricate network of canals, known locally as khlongs. As the evening descends, wander through vibrant street markets, savoring the eclectic flavors of authentic Thai street food.

It is the ancient city just about an hour outside of Bangkok. It was one of my favorite aspects of the trip and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who visits Thailand.

Day 3: Modern Bangkok

Day three is dedicated to exploring modern Bangkok. Venture into futuristic shopping centers such as Siam Paragon and MBK Center, treating yourself to a shopping spree amidst the city’s contemporary allure. For a breather, head to Lumpini Park, an oasis of greenery in the midst of urban chaos. As night falls, delve into the lively nightlife scene along Khao San Road or indulge in the entertainment offerings at Asiatique the Riverfront.

You may also want to spend some time exploring Bangkok’s rooftops for amazing views. It’s one of the reasons I loved my stay at the Avani+ Riverside. They had a rooftop pool and bar with amazing views of the river and the city.

Thailand Itinerary Day 4-6: Krabi

Day 4: Flight to Krabi and Railay Beach

Bid adieu to the bustling cityscape and catch a flight to Krabi, a province renowned for its stunning limestone cliffs, clear turquoise waters, and vibrant marine life. As you touch down, head straight to Railay Beach, a slice of paradise accessible only by boat due to its encircling limestone cliffs. Revel in the serene beauty of this secluded haven, popular among both beach enthusiasts and rock climbers.

Where to Stay Near Railay Beach

If you do want to stay near Railay Beach, here are some of the options. I did not stay in Railay, as I chose to stay at the Banyan Tree in Krabi (10/10 recommend). But if you do want to stay near Railay, here are some options. Railay Bay Resort and Spa

Located on Railay Bay East, this resort offers a diverse range of accommodations, from pool villas to deluxe rooms. Its strategic position makes it convenient for exploring both Railay East and West. The resort boasts a spa, a pool, and multiple dining options.

Situated on the western side of Railay Beach, Sand Sea Resort provides beachfront accommodation with direct access to the stunning beach. Offering a variety of rooms, including beachfront villas, the resort is close to numerous dining options and recreational activities.

Rayavadee Krabi

For those seeking luxury, Rayavadee stands amidst lush gardens and towering limestone cliffs, providing a private and serene atmosphere. Exclusive to the southern tip of Railay Beach, this resort offers lavish pavilions and villas, exceptional dining, and a spa.

Railay Village Resort

Nestled on Railay East, this mid-range resort provides comfortable accommodations in a lush tropical setting. With a pool, restaurant, and easy access to both Railay East and West, it offers a convenient and relaxing stay.

Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi

Located on Pai Plong Bay, this upscale resort is accessible by a short boat ride to Railay. It features a range of rooms and villas, multiple dining options, a spa, and a stunning pool area, providing a luxurious experience.

Avatar Railay

A newer budget-friendly option on Railay West, Avatar Railay offers clean and modern accommodations with various room types. Its location provides easy access to the beach and numerous dining choices.

Diamond Cave Resort & Spa

Situated on Railay East and surrounded by lush greenery, this resort offers a range of accommodations, including bungalows and deluxe rooms. With a pool, spa, and a cave restaurant, it provides a unique and relaxing stay.

Day 5: Four Islands Tour

Day five unfolds with the highlight of your Krabi adventure – the Four Islands Tour. Explore Maya Bay, where the movie “The Beach” was filmed, and snorkel in the emerald waters teeming with tropical fish. Why Krabi over Phuket?

While Phuket boasts popularity, Krabi steals the spotlight for those seeking a more serene and authentic experience. The smaller crowds, untouched landscapes, and laid-back atmosphere make Krabi a gem for those desiring a tranquil escape. Railay Beach is framed by towering limestone cliffs. It is more picturesque than any beach in Phuket, offering a secluded paradise.

Moreover, Krabi serves as a gateway to numerous islands, each providing a unique experience. The Four Islands Tour exemplifies a unique experience. Visitors can explore multiple paradisiacal destinations in a single day. This is an experience that may be challenging to replicate in the more frequented areas of Phuket.

Thailand Itinerary Day 8-10: Chiang Mai

I did not visit Chiang Mai during my two week trip to Thailand. However, one of the girls I met on the trip, and one of my best friends both said Chiang Mai was their favorite stop in Thailand. Given their experiences and everything I’ve read abou Chiang Mai, I am confident to include it in the 10 day Thailand Itinerary.

Day 8: Flight to Chiang Mai and Old City Exploration

Bid farewell to Krabi and hop on a flight to Chiang Mai. It is a city nestled in the mountainous region of northern Thailand. Begin your Chiang Mai adventure by exploring the Old City. It is encircled by ancient walls and adorned with temples.  The iconic Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang are located here.

Day 9: Doi Suthep and Hill Tribes

On day eight, ascend to the sacred Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. It is perched atop a mountain offering panoramic views of Chiang Mai. Immerse yourself in the cultural richness of the region by visiting one of the nearby hill tribe villages, such as the Karen or Hmong tribes, gaining insights into their unique traditions and way of life.

Day 10: Elephant Nature Park and Farewell

On your 10 day Thailand Itinerary, you must make time to visit an elephant sanctuary. Day ten unfolds with an ethically conscious encounter with the Elephant Nature Park. You can interact with rescued elephants in a responsible and sustainable environment.
