Here Are 9 of My Favorite Embroidered Cardigans

By Stacey Freeman Leave a Comment

I’m really into long cardigans this fall. They are so cozy and easy to wear for work or on the weekends. They look great over dresses, with jeans, or dress pants, depending on whether I need to dress up or dress down. You can never go wrong with a black cardigan, because it’s so versatile, but they can also get pretty boring. I’m loving embroidered cardigans, like the one I’m wearing, because it adds a fun design element to an otherwise fairly boring sweater.

As I said, you can style embroidered cardigans a lot of ways. I really do think long cardigans are so versatile because they do look really great over dresses and skirts – as long as the skirt is shorter than the cardigan. I personally think it can look pretty frumpy to wear a long cardigan over a maxi dress, because then there is a lot of material pooling around your knees. If you wear a dress or skirt shorter than your sweater, you will see more skin which helps to alleviate that too much material problem. I also like to wear long cardigans over leggings or slim dress pants for work. Add a cute bootie or pump and you’re work ready.

Jeans are also a great choice for pairing with your embroidered cardigans. Really, any kind of jean will work. I definitely do like to pair embroidered cardigans, especially long ones, with skinny jeans. For this look, I actually opted for a mom jean instead. They have a high waist and I liked how the waist hit right where the closure of the sweater is. This closure and high waist showed off my smallest part. So, the long sweater didn’t feel as frumpy as it could otherwise look. I chose a really distressed jean in a very light wash because I wanted to contrast the black to really show off the length.

If you want to try embroidered cardigans – long or shorter – this fall, here are some of my favorites. I hope you find my styling tips helpful. I can’t wait to hear what you think of embroidered cardigans this fall.
