Easy Bacon Egg and Cheese Strata Recipe

Ingredients:

10 oz bacon, diced
6 large eggs
1 1/4 cups milk (I used buttermilk)
1/4 tsp salt
Black pepper
7 cups (packed) any plain bread cut into 1-inch cubes (I used a french loaf)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat and cook the bacon until browned. Remove from the pan and drain on a paper towel.

Next, whisk eggs and milk. Add the bread, 1 1/2 cups of cheese, and the cooked bacon to the egg mixture. Mix well. Cover and set aside in the fridge for at least 30 minutes so the eggs can soak into the bread. You can do this the night before and bake in the morning.

Preheat the oven to 350. Generously spray a springform pan with cooking spray. Pour the bread mixture into the pan and pat down to compress. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese and cover loosely with foil.

Bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for a further 15 – 20 minutes, until golden on top and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.

Allow the bacon egg and cheese strata to rest for 5 minutes before removing the springform. Garnish with parsley, if desired. Enjoy!

Made this using my ingredients but your guide lines and it was great. I got 12 wedges out of it and froze them on a sheet pan ,then put them in a bag. Heated pieces that we wanted in the microwave and they were as fresh as when I made them. Ketchup or Hollandaise on top. Thumbs up.
