Healthy Homemade Kids Snacks

By Stacey Freeman 2 Comments

healthy homemade kids snacksSince he first started solids, Rocco has remained a picky eater. We’ve tried our best to get him to try new things, and every now and then, he surprises us (raw broccoli anyone?). Most of the time, he sticks to what he knows.

Snack time has become pretty mundane. I still prefer to give him healthier choices, so I love the idea of making healthy homemade kids snacks. I spent a lot of time digging through recipes on Pinterest to pull together this list, perfect healthy snacks for your kids when they get home from school. If this list isn’t enough, check out my other healthy snack options.

#ad If you're looking for a super easy and family-friendly recipe, you've got to try this bacon, egg, and cheese strata recipe! It looks fancy, but I promise it's seriously so simple to make. All you need is bread, Farmland® Bacon, cheese, and eggs. I picked up all my ingredients at my local @vons store, and you can even make this recipe a day ahead - it reheats so well! I love Farmland® Bacon because it is high-quality bacon that's made in the USA with no MSG or artificial colors or flavors. If you're looking for a super simple brunch recipe that is a total crowd-pleaser, you need to try this strata recipe. The complete recipe is available at poshinprogress.com. @farmlandfoods

The other day, my son told me by the time he is 19 The other day, my son told me by the time he is 19, he hopes racism will be gone and that all people will be treated the same regardless of their race. I kissed his sweet face and told him I hope so too, as I held back tears.

I am scared. I am worried. I am angry.

Another unarmed Black man was senselessly murdered by a police officer. Please don’t talk about the fact that he had a warrant. Please don’t talk about the fact that he entered his vehicle. Neither of those justify the use of deadly force on an unarmed man who was not threatening the officer. Please don’t talk to me about the ‘mistake’ the officer made using a gun instead of a taser. An innocent man’s life was taken because of that officer’s haste.
.
Our criminal justice system is broken. Officers need more training around their implicit bias toward Black and brown communities. Clearly they need de-escalation training as well. Why are cops so quick to kill Black men?
.
I know this is uncomfortable to talk about. But we need to talk about this continual issue - I know you might feel tired of hearing about issues of race in America - but can you imagine if you actually had to live this?
