Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Hearts
Today is National Peanut Butter Day! To celebrate, I adapted a peanut butter balls recipe to create chocolate covered peanut butter hearts.
Peanut butter and chocolate is probably my favorite food combination. I love the mix of the salty peanut butter with the sweet and rich chocolate. I haven’t made peanut butter balls in years, so I thought it would be fun to shape them into hearts for a yummy Valentine’s day treat.
These chocolate covered peanut butter hearts were super simple to make. The recipe is a no-bake and own bowl recipe. The only effort involved is hand-shaping the hearts and then dipping them in the chocolate. Otherwise, this recipe can’t get much simpler.
I adapted from this recipe. I quickly realized the original recipe called for much too much filling and not enough chocolate. If you use the original recipe, I would suggest doubling the chocolate.
Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Hearts
Ingredients:
3/4 cups peanut butter
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups confectioners sugar
3/4 cup crushed graham crackers
1 11.5 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Mix together the peanut butter, butter, confectioners sugar and graham crackers. Mix until well combined. Shape into a 1-inch ball and press to flatten with your hand. Once flattened, shape the bottom into a point and the top into two semi-circles to create a heart shape. Place hearts on a cookie sheet and place in the refrigerator to harden for 15-20 minutes.
Once hardened, melt the chocolate. Dip the hearts into the chocolate and place on parchment or wax-paper-lined cookie sheet. Let the chocolate harden completely before serving. Enjoy!
