My 2016 Goals

my 2016 goals

I’m really looking forward to 2016 and my 36th year on this planet (my birthday is this week). The next 360-ish days will definitely include a lot of travel, thanks to my awesome day job. I also look forward to the end of diapers! Rocco learned to potty train in 2015, and I am sure Gigi will be quick behind him this year.

I don’t really make resolutions, but I love to set goals for the new year. Here are few of my personal 2016 goals:

Make Health a Priority

2015 was a rough year for me physically. I’ve had this chronic pain and, the for the last couple of weeks, I was terribly sick with a bad cold/flu thing that completely wiped me out. I’ve always found a little bit of time to exercise and I try to eat right most of the time (the whole 80/20 thing), but I definitely need to incorporate more movement and more veggies in my daily routine. I also have a desk job, so another goal for this year is to walk at least one-two times during my work day, even if only for 10 minutes at a time. I need to find a way to get up more and sit less. I’m also going to pack my lunch consistently and include more veggies every day.

Become a Doctor

The end is in sight! I’ve been struggling to finish this Ph.D. for several years, juggling a full-time job and full-time mom duties. At times, it has felt nearly impossible to finish. With a lot of perseverance, I’m going to finish by summer for sure. It is a long time coming, but I am so proud I didn’t quit the countless times I thought about it. Stay tuned!

Travel with My Husband

Even if it’s only for a long weekend, I want to find a way for Jade and me to travel somewhere together this year. We haven’t really traveled together since our trip to the Bahamas in 2014, so my goal is for us to plan and execute a trip at some point in 2016. We could really use the time away from our kids to reconnect and have some adult-only time.

What are your 2016 goals or resolutions?
