Card and paper games work well when we’re traveling on the airplane, but they are nearly impossible in the car. On long car rides, we almost exclusively focus on movies. Prior to getting a KET, we brought an old mini DVD player for the really long road trip. However, it was a pain to use the DVD player because I had to change the DVDs from the front seat, which can be challenging as a passenger. Needless to say, getting a KET has solved a lot of those travel-related challenges. My kids and I both love our KET because it offers so many options for my kids. Our KET has so many parental controls and filters so that I am sure my kids are always getting age-appropriate content. You can set time limits, age limits, create educational goals, privacy settings, which apps they can view, ways to earn more time, etc. You can really tailor a KET to meet your personal preferences so you can decide what’s best for your children. When we first got our KETs, I downloaded these apps that are age-appropriate for my kids. Since this is their first time having their own tablet, they absolutely love the content I’ve shown them so far. I decided to set a pretty strict time limit each day, but I do allow them to earn more time by focusing on reading. However, on trips, I’m a lot more lenient with their screen time. Although, I still try to prioritize the educational activities over the entertainment, whenever I can.
