The Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet Is The Best Travel Companion

This post is sponsored by Amazon and they gifted me an Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablet. All opinions are my own.

Traveling with early elementary-aged kids is leaps and bounds easier than traveling with babies or toddlers. My kids are at the age that I no longer have to bring bottles, diaper bags, etc., which is such a relief. They are pretty good at entertaining themselves. But on long trips, even my usual travel tips and tricks start to fail. That’s why I’m so glad we finally got a new Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablets – or KET for short.

Most of the time, I try to rely on self-created fun to keep them entertained. I pack crayons and markers, note pads, coloring books, cards, and little toys. My kids love to color and draw. They also enjoy playing games like tic-tac-toe and word guessing games. We also play card games, like go-fish. Card and paper games work well when we’re traveling on the airplane, but they are nearly impossible in the car.

On long car rides, we almost exclusively focus on movies. Prior to getting a KET, we brought an old mini DVD player for the really long road trip. However, it was a pain to use the DVD player because I had to change the DVDs from the front seat, which can be challenging as a passenger. Needless to say, getting a KET has solved a lot of those travel-related challenges.

My kids and I both love our KET because it offers so many options for my kids. With Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, you get an all-in-one subscription that gives kids access to so many kid-friendly books, educational apps, games, TV shows, movies, and audible books. If you are an Amazon Prime member, it only costs $2.99 a month for unlimited access for a single child. It’s $6.99 for the entire family.

Our KET has so many parental controls and filters so that I am sure my kids are always getting age-appropriate content. You can set time limits, age limits, create educational goals, privacy settings, which apps they can view, ways to earn more time, etc. You can really tailor a KET to meet your personal preferences so you can decide what’s best for your children.

When we first got our KETs, I downloaded these apps that are age-appropriate for my kids. Since this is their first time having their own tablet, they absolutely love the content I’ve shown them so far. I decided to set a pretty strict time limit each day, but I do allow them to earn more time by focusing on reading.

However, on trips, I’m a lot more lenient with their screen time. Although, I still try to prioritize the educational activities over the entertainment, whenever I can. If you have any summer travel with kids planned, like long road or air trips, I highly recommend the Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablets. They really are the perfect solution to summer vacation and family travel with kids.

Love love these tablets! I bought one for my great niece who was just turning 2 and for my great great nephew 3. They both use the tablets ever day. When my great niece and her son travel she pairs her phone with his tablet so he can get on line for some things. I would get them again
