With Thanksgiving only a little over a week away, most of us are planning what dish we’re going to bring or who’s going to host this year. I’m sure the last thing on your mind is what you’re going to wear to your Thanksgiving dinner. Rightly, you are thinking about the food and the people. No matter where you’re having Thanksgiving dinner, you should make it an occasion to look your best. No doubt, someone will be snapping I-phone pics that will end up on Instagram or Facebook and you don’t want to be caught in your raggedy sweats. I’ve put together three outfits for Thanksgiving dinner based on three scenarios to give you an idea of what to wear to Thanksgiving dinner. My personal philosophy---it doesn’t matter where you’re going, you should always try to look your best. Being overdressed is always better than being underdressed, and you can be comfortable while still looking chic. I hope you find the three looks helpful in coming up with your outfits for Thanksgiving dinner. If you’re spending time with your fiancé’s or husband’s family, you want to look nice. But you also need to feel comfortable and confident in your clothes so you can deal with any family drama that comes up. I love a sweater dress like this one by Clu because it is ultra comfortable but still looks dressy. If you live in a cooler climate, you can throw on a pair of tights to keep your legs warm. I love the idea of a monochromatic look by choosing gray tights with these gray Rachel Comey booties. To break up the gray in the sweater dress and boots, I chose a pastel pink wrap coat because light pink and gray look so nice together. The purple purse is in the same pinky color family and will add a needed pop of color. Gold also really stands out against gray, so I love the layered necklace and bold rose gold Hortense ring with gray-tone pearls. If you are dress nicely, you are telling your guest this is a special and classy event. If you prefer a casual Thanksgiving, then you can certainly wear one of the other two looks that are more dressed down. I personally think the hostess should be the most dressed up, because it shows pride in yourself, your home and the meal you are presenting to your guests. I chose a floral midi skirt and lace blouse because two pieces are generally easier to move in than a fitted dress. Both pieces are subtly sexy but still very covered-up. They look polished and elegant. I kept the accessories really simple since the blouse and skirt have a lot of detail and print. Stud earrings add the slightest touch of shine. I chose embellished flats so they are comfortable but really eye-catching. The pointed toe also elongates the leg, which you need when wearing a midi skirt. I chose a lady-like coat to wear over your outfit if you decide to go out later in the night for some early Black Friday shopping or to check out the Christmas lights in your neighborhood. The look is complete with a lady-like structured purse in a rich eggplant color that compliments the floral skirt. Blouse | Earrings | Coat | Bag | Skirt | Shoes If you’re spending Thanksgiving at a friend’s house, you can probably be a bit more casual (but always check before you go—you don’t want to show up in jeans if they are planning on it being a fancy dinner party!). To look cool and a bit edgy, I chose moto boots and a rich Veda leather jacket to play off the pretty winter white sweater. The sweater has some jeweled embellishment for a girly touch. For accessories, a metallic handbag and rose gold bangle watch set add some shine and cool details against the leather and white. Rolled jeans pair perfectly with the tough Belstaff boots.
