Do you have a favorite accessory? For me, it’s by far, sunglasses. I own probably 30 pairs of sunglasses, but I’m always on the hunt for a new pair. I own a lot of classic pairs but not many ultra-modern ones. When I saw these Louis Vuitton cat-eye sunglasses on their site, I knew I wanted to try them. I tried on several pairs in the store, but this pair was sold out in the stores. So, I ordered two different pairs so I could try them on in the store. I opted for these modern black cat-eyed sunglasses because I think they are such a fun addition for summer, and they feel a lot more modern than anything else I own.

When it comes to clothes, shoes, and accessories, the thing I tend to spend more money on is bags, shoes, sunglasses, jewelry, and coats. I spend the least on my actual clothes. Why? Because, honestly, clothes trends change so often. Whereas accessories can last for years, or even decades. I’ve owned some of the same shoes, bags, and sunglasses for 15 years.

The thing about fashion is that it’s cyclical. Right now, 90s styles are really popular. If I had kept some of my clothes, shoes, and accessories from back in high school, I could still wear them now. And just recently, I went to a disco party, and the outfit I wore was totally 70s, but all of the items were for sale at normal retailers! That just shows you how fashion trends really do come back around. The platforms I ordered are being sold to everyday consumers, not just for dress-up parties.

Cat eye sunglasses have actually been around since the 1920s. This article provided a super interesting history of the style. They’ve been around for nearly one hundred years, so that just speaks to their staying power. Although the style has been around for awhile, it does change. The exaggeration of the cat-eye changes. The 2022 cat eye is much sleeker than in the past. The pair I found is a lot more narrow than other cat-eye styles I own. I have a very oversized cat-eye style from Tom Ford that I’ve owned for about 8 years. I still love them, but they are very large and only go with certain looks. This more modern style I’m wearing, feels very current for now.
