I love wrap dresses. Of any cut of dress, wrap dresses are the most flattering on me. A quality wrap dress is one of my wardrobe staples, especially in the summer. I own a black jersey one with a giant beige palm leaves print that I’ve owned for at least 5 years, if not closer to a decade. It’s one of those pieces I choose to wear on days when I want something comfortable, but that still looks very put together and always chic. Wrap dresses are a classic staple in American sportswear. You might have heard Diane Von Furstenberg invented the wrap dress, but the wrap dress wiki (seriously, it has one), says wrap dresses have been around since at least the 1930’s, and DVF just made them better using lightweight jersey.

Also, the fact that wrap dresses have been around for close to 100 years speaks to their ease and classic style, while still remaining chic after all these years. It is my favorite dress style to wear for a couple of reasons. Tthe wrap and tie at the waist cinch me in at the smallest part, giving me a small waistline and creating that coveted hourglass shape.
