All opinions are mine alone. #KetchupWithFrenchs #CollectiveBiasOne of my absolute favorite foods is my husband’s homemade pizza. After much trial and error, he has perfected it. We’ve never tried a BBQ chicken pizza before, so we thought it would be a fun way to use our stand-by skillet pizza dough recipe.
I know it might seem difficult to make pizza at home, but it’s really much simpler than you think. The dough recipe can be done in under 10 minutes using a stand mixer and we used a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store to make it even easier.
We opted to make homemade bbq sauce because it is just better than store bought. But if you’re pinched for time, you could sub in standard bbq sauce. I’m telling you, it’s worth your time to try this bbq sauce. My husband was blown away by the flavor. After finishing off the leftovers last night, he praised me for how far I’ve come in my cooking. I reminded him just how easy the recipe was to make, but he wanted to give me credit for just how delicious it was. Thanks, hon!
Making the bbq sauce is a snap. You start with French’s Ketchup, which is great because it is made with real ingredients. Unlike other brands, French’s Ketchup is made from high-quality tomatoes, no high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial colors or flavors. It is the perfect base for this bbq sauce. You can find French’s Ketchup at your favorite retailer nationwide. I got mine at my local Fry’s store.
This bbq chicken pizza recipe is perfect for watching the big game with your friends and family and you’re kids will love it. My two-year-old daughter gobbled up her piece. If you’re having friends over to watch the big game, making pizza is a total crowd-pleaser and you can switch up the toppings to make whatever people like best.
BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe
1/2 Pizza dough (recipe here) or store bought
1/2 cup BBQ sauce (recipe below)
1 cup chicken, cubed
½ cup red onions, sliced thinly
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
Green onions for garnish, optional
Preheat oven to 450. Prepare your skillet with a generous amount of olive oil.
Spread dough in the pan so there is a 1 to 1 1/2-inch lip around the rim of the pan. Prick the center of the dough with a fork to help it from rising.
Add a thin layer of mozzarella to the pizza crust and then add the chicken and red onions. Drizzle bbq sauce over the chicken and cheese until most of the pie is covered with a thin layer. Top the sauce with the remaining mozzarella and then the cheddar.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the top of the pizza is also browning. Remove from the oven, and let rest for 5 minutes. Remove the pizza from the skillet, slice and enjoy!
