With its bold purple, striking pink highlights and faded yellow center, this flower actually began my inspiration for this series of posts, as I found it only a few steps from my front door, climbing up a neighboring patio.

With this flower in mind, I chose this DVF dress for its deep and rich purple color, but also its versatility; it could be worn for day or evening.  The cut of this dress has a defined waist seam to add the always-important waist definition and an A-line skirt, giving that hourglass effect.

DVF is known for making classic dresses that can be worn again and again. Her dresses are a bit of an investment, but you can often find them at discounted prices on sites like Bluefly and eBay.

Given the simplicity of this dress, I chose bold accessories to punch up this evening look.  The dress falls into the neutral color-palate, so adding bright colors and patterns in the shoes and clutch adds visual interest and contrast.

A chunky necklace draws attention to the face and neckline, while playing with the other colors in the outfit.  The simple, but interesting stud earrings and delicate bracelet add just the right touch of sparkle to complete the look.

The look. (1) earrings; (2) necklace; (3) dress; (4) bracelet; (5) heels; (6) clutch.

The flower. Morning Glory.
