It's officially berry season, and I couldn't be happier. I love when I can get fresh berries at the supermarket for under a dollar. It feels like such a win. My family loves most fruit, but my daughter especially loves fresh blueberries. I bought so many packs last week, I quickly realized I needed to do something with them. Tomorrow, I'm sharing a drink recipe that called for homemade blueberry syrup. I'm pretty excited about that drink, but I also realized the syrup recipe deserves its own post too. I love this homemade blueberry syrup recipe because it is super simple to make and tastes absolutely delicious. Plus, you can use it in so many ways. This blueberry syrup recipe is also great because it really enhances the flavor of the berries. My husband ate some of the fresh berries and he said they weren't very sweet. When he tried the syrup, he was blown away by how good it tastes. He told me he generally doesn't like blueberry syrup, but I made him a convert. Also, it's pretty much the easiest recipe so you can create homemade blueberry syrup at home. You only need a few ingredients, a saucepan, and about 30 minutes to make this delicious syrup. Homemade Blueberry Syrup Recipe Ingredients: 1 ½ cups fresh blueberries 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 2-3 pieces of lemon rind 2-3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice Directions: In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients over medium heat. Once sugar dissolves, bring to a boil for 1-2 minutes. Reduce heat to simmer for 20-30 minutes, until the mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat. Using a strainer, remove the lemon rind and chunks of blueberry. If you prefer to keep the blueberry pieces, you can simply remove the lemon rind and mix everything together.
