I was in town for a work conference, but I also got to attend a first look at two hot shows returning to FOX this fall, 9-1-1 that has a two-night premiere on September 23rd and 24th at 9/8 central and The Resident, which premieres on Monday, September 24th at 8/7 central only. Not only did I get to hang out with some local bloggers, I also got to learn from an expert about infant and child CPR. When we first arrived, we had the chance to chat with other bloggers and people from both SheKnows and FOX. Next, we got to see two sneak peaks of 9-1-1 and The Resident. I’m super excited to watch both shows this fall. They both have really fantastic actors (did you know Angela Bassett and Jennifer Love Hewitt are on 9-1-1?) and I love good action/drama! The Resident stars Matt Czuchry, who I used to love to watch on The Good Wife, so I’m super excited to get caught up on his new show. After the sneak peaks of the new shows, we got a little refresher on CPR too. Here’s a fun little historical fact about me: my very first job out of college, I worked as a site director at an afterschool program. It was such a fun job, getting to work with elementary school kids in a casual environment. It was also the last time I took a CPR class, so it was about time I got a refresher. Lucky for us, FOX brought in an expert in CPR from Save a Little Life. The founder, Richard Pass, has significant experience teaching CPR and he was also such a joy to listen to. He made CPR training fun and educational. As a mom to two young kids, I definitely wish I had received this training when they were younger. Infant and child CPR is so important. The leading cause of infant and toddler death is drowning. If a child is found and CPR is started immediately, their chances of survival go up dramatically. Even for adults, CPR is so important since 80% of cardiac events happen at home. Doing CPR in the time between cardiac event and the medical help arriving can be the difference between life and death. September is National Preparedness Month. If you haven’t taken CPR in a while, or ever, I highly suggest you look for a local organization so you can learn too.
