So how is homeschooling going for you? Most of us never planned to be homeschooling parents, but here we are. If 2020 has taught me anything, it's to expect the unexpected and stop it with all your planning. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is live day-to-day. That's exactly how I'm approaching homeschooling. I'm not planning too far in advance, I'm taking their teachers' advice and lessons as they come, and supplementing my kids' learning as many ways as I can. Last week, I did my very first STEM experiment with my kids. So, I thought it might be useful to share some easy STEM weather activities, in case you're looking for hands-on STEM learning opportunities. My kids love doing science experiments at home. We've done several over the years - with slime being the favorite. (If you haven't tried slime at home, here are 10 cool slime activities). My kids actually requested we make slime last week, but I decided I wanted to try something new. I wanted to encourage them to learn a new concept, so I chose to focus on making rain clouds with shaving cream (#10 below). Weather is one science concept that is pretty easy for kids to understand because they experience the weather every day. Although it's easy for them to grasp what the weather is, there are lots of ways you can teach them deeper concepts through hands-on activities.
