I love summer, but there is a point where I get sick of my sandals and long to break out my boots and chunky sweaters. A good pair of boots can last for years, which is why I tend to invest in classics like those found at the Frye Company. I have had a few pairs of their wedge booties for three or four years, and after a quick trip to the shoe cobbler, they are always just like new. I believe in investing in quality and timeless boots, but every now and then, I want something to shake things up. This fall fashion season is ripe with ankle boots, many of which have embellishments, studs, buckles, leather straps, etc. I first found these Hudson boots and fell for the many brass buckles at the heel, which adds edge to an otherwise simple boot. Madden Girl’s version is just as cute, but features silver buckles. Both pairs have a slight stacked heel, the Hudson's are true leather, whereas the Madden version is a faux leather. They are versatile in that they could easily be paired with a skirt or dress but would look great over skinny jeans or if you want to cover the buckles, with a wider-leg pant. As with leather goods, the higher the price generally coincides with the quality of the leather and the craftsmanship. If you don’t mind faux leather, you can score the Madden Girl version for less than a third of the price.
