It’s Cinco de Mayo, so I thought I should try a new margarita recipe. This mango margarita recipe is so delicious and so easy to make. The great thing about this recipe is that you can use fresh or frozen mangos. I actually used one bag of frozen mangos because I wanted them to have a slushy consistency. If you want them to be less slushy, you can remove some (or all) of the ice, and also use fresh mango.
If you want an even more liquidy consistency, you could replace the frozen mango with mango juice. It’s going to change the recipe quite a bit, but if you don’t want that thick smoothie-like consistency, that would be the way to achieve more of a mango margarita on the rocks vibe.
Some of the recipes I saw actually added orange juice as well. I personally like that this recipe only uses mangos and lime, along with the alcohol. But, if you prefer a sweeter drink, then adding orange juice, pineapple juice or mango juice might be the way to do that. Some of the recipes I saw also used simple syrup and some of them lined the glass rim in sugar. I personally do not like when my margaritas are too sweet. But, that’s another option depending on your taste preference.
In terms of rimming the glass, beyond using salt or sugar, I also saw some recipes that used chili powder. Chili does go well with lime and mango, so that might be an option if you like it a bit spicier. I’ve seen people mix together chili, salt and lime zest for the rim, which would be a great combo for this mango margarita recipe.
No matter what combination you decide, this mango margarita is perfect for Cinco de Mayo or anytime when you want a cool and refreshing margarita recipe. If you’re looking for other drink recipes, click here. If you’re looking for other margarita recipes, click here.
