Reasons Why I Love This Dress
I recently got this black sweater dress from Shein and I love it for a few reasons. I love that it has a tie waist to really show off my curves. Plus, this black and white sweater dress is midi-length, which is perfect for a work look. I think a long black sweater dress is a great option for day or night. You can see another example of how I styled one here with this long yellow coat.
The white stripes also create some visual interest so it’s not just a plain black sweater dress. Black is such a classic option that really is so versatile. Below, you’ll see a lot of options I came up with for black and white sweater dresses you might love. The thing I do love about mixing black and white is not only that it is so classic, but also that you can find so many different styles and prints simply with these two colors. You’ll see below that some of the dresses have houndstooth or plaid patterns, some have vertical stripes and some have horizontal. It’s so fun to see how many different options you can find with mixing those two colors.
The fact that it’s a black long sleeve sweater dress also makes it perfect for most of the year. It’s a great option for winter and spring for sure. I also love how covered up this dress is while still being body consicious. It’s another example of how a really classy dress can look sexy.
How to Style a Black Sweater Dress Outfit
I purposely chose to style this for a work look. The dress definitely gave me work casual vibes. It has a mock turtleneck, it’s long sleeve and it’s also midi-length, all of which makes it feel very work appropriate. The tie waist just creates a nice shape. As for styling, if you want to really set it off, you could add a more interesting belt. I’ve seen a lot of sweater dresses styled with louder belts, bigger buckles, for example. I think that’s a great way to cinch in the waist while also adding visual interest. I chose to wear a very work-appropriate pump. They are a bit more interesting with the straight across the pointed toe, but still very classic. I also added a cross-body clutch bag and stacked a few gold necklaces for a little shine to match the bag.
If you’re looking to add a new black and white sweater dress to your wardrobe, I’m sharing some of my favorites below. They are definitely a great choice for work or another casual setting.
