How to Make Edible Slime With Only Two Ingredients

By Stacey Freeman Leave a Comment

how to make edible slime
My children are obsessed with watching YouTube lately. Every time I turn around, it seems like they’re watching another video where someone is making slime. I get it. I loved slime as a kid too. Recently, they watched an episode with a bunch of different edible slime recipes. I finally caved in and told them we’d try it. So if you ever wanted to know how to make edible slime, this post is for you.

There are tons of variations of edible slime. I chose to go with this super simple marshmallow slime because I wanted to keep it really easy. I didn’t want to fuss with having to melt candy or gummies, as some of the recipes call for, and this edible slime is only two ingredients.

To be honest, I’d call this more like silly putty than slime, but it’s definitely slimy during the process of making it! My kids honestly loved every second of making this marshmallow slime. I even recall my son saying it was his favorite science activity of all time.

My daughter was most thrilled because she is my sweets lover, so she loved getting to sneak little nibbles along the way.

If you’re wondering how to make this edible slime, you only need two ingredients – marshmallow fluff and powdered sugar. You can also include food coloring if you want to make interesting colors – but this is optional. I also chose to let them use sprinkles to add a little texture and extra fun to their edible silly putty.

How to Make Edible Slime

Ingredients:

Jar of Marshmallow Fluff
1-2 cups of powdered sugar
food coloring (optional)
sprinkles (optional)

Directions:

To start, you will add the food coloring to your jar of marshmallow fluff and mix it until it turns the desired color. Next, you will place 1 cup of powdered sugar into a ziplock bag, or on a covered surface. Spoon the marshmallow fluff onto the pile of powdered sugar and use your hands to incorporate the two substances. This can be very messy!

In hindsight, I wish I had started the mixing process in a ziplock bag to keep it as clean as possible. However, my kids LOVED how messy they got and having to wash their hands several times to continue to combine the marshmallow fluff and powdered sugar.

If you are a clean freak, opt for mixing in a large ziplock so that you can avoid the mess and incorporate them directly in the bag. Just keep mixing and adding powdered sugar, as needed, until you have a silly putty/modeling clay consistency.

It took much more powdered sugar than the original recipe I found, but the more you keep trying to mix and incorporate the closer it got to being a material my kids could play with. By the end, my kids were able to play with it much like modeling clay and even build little sculptures. My daughter also loved eating it. My son said it was too sweet. Enjoy this edible slime recipe!
