Here Are The 5 Reasons You Should Stay at Marriott Puerto Vallarta

Full disclosure, I’m a Marriott fan. With all my work travels over the last 4 years, I’ve managed to earn status at Marriott with their Bonvoy program. I’ve always had exceptional service at Marriott hotels, so when I found out we were going to stay at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta on our press trip, I was beyond excited. The Marriott Puerto Vallarta exceeded all of my expectations, so I wanted to share with you the 5 reasons I’d definitely stay there again.

When I first arrived at the hotel, I was greeted in the warmest way. Their marketing team met me with a fresh tropical drink and led me to the check-in desk. They escorted me up to my room and once inside, I found a lovely king bed with a customized Posh in Progress pillow. On my desk, there was a fresh assortment of fruit and nuts, along with a bunch of bottled water. Next, I headed onto my private balcony and found the most lovely view of the ocean and coastline.

5 Reasons To Stay At The Marriott Puerto Vallarta

1. The Pool

Although the room was so lovely, I didn’t stay there long before heading outside to explore the expansive grounds. When I exited the lobby area, I walked along rows of palm trees until I saw the massive swimming pool. I was told the Marriott Puerto Vallarta has the largest pool in the city. There are tons of beach chairs, cabanas and umbrellas surrounding the pool. Unlike a lot of pools, you don’t have to worry about finding a chair or towel, because there are plenty.

The water was lovely – just the perfect temperature. One day, we also got to use a cabana, which felt so posh. It was right next to the hot tub, so we got to enjoy that as well. There are also hammocks and other things to do right in the pool area. The Marriott Puerto Vallarta definitely caters to everyone. There were young children, families, retirees, and everything in between. Their staff also told us that they also welcome the LGBT community, as there are some properties in the area that do not. Clearly, they are a very inclusive hotel, which always makes me happy.

2. The Beach

From the pool, there is also a gorgeous ocean view. It is pretty unique and special to be able to enjoy a massive outdoor pool and then walk just steps away to a gorgeous beach. The Marriott’s beach is a private beach and there is a wonderful view of the city. The water was so warm, so I did enjoy a little walk in the water and along the beach.

3. The Views

As I mentioned, my room had a fantastic view of the ocean and coastline. On the 7th floor of the hotel, there is also an outdoor area that gives you panaramic views of all of Puerto Vallarta. The views are stunning every direction you turn. Also, the landscaping and grounds of the hotel are so spectacular, situated right next to the ocean, there are basically amazing views everywhere at the hotel. One day at dinner, we sat right next to the ocean while enjoying fresh seafood. You will find wonderful views no matter where you are at the hotel.

4. The Spa

On my last morning at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta, I toured the spa and use their soaking tubs. The spa is absolutely gorgeous and I was especially impressed with the variety of treatments and the fact that their treatments are based on cultural practices. It just felt very zen in the space. I felt relaxed just walking through the spa doors. The soaking tubs were also very serene and I was able to enjoy some time in their relaxation room before packing to head home. The next time I stay at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta, I will definitely make sure to schedule one of their treatments.

5. The Food & Drinks

The majority of my meals on the trip, I got to enjoy the Marriot Puerto Vallarta’s assortment of restaurants and food options. Each morning, we enjoyed an indrescribeable buffet breakfast. Their spread is seriously impossible to describe. Most of the time, I ordered a custom-made omlette. I also enjoyed trying some of the local foods, like tamales, plantains, and all of the different Mexican pastries. There were so many options, it was definitely fun to not only try new things, but to enjoy a lot of my breakfast favorites. All of the food was so delicious.

A few other times, we ate at the restaurant right next to the beach. I enjoyed lobster tacos one day, and ordered the chips and guac at least a couple times. I also ordered room service one time and the food came hot and fresh. On the last night, we enjoyed a private 7 course dinner at the hotel, and all of the food was out of this world. The thing I remember most was this corn soup and also this sorbet. Both dishes were some of the best food I’ve ever eaten – actually, the entire meal was definitely the best meal I’ve ever had – and that’s saying a lot for someone who’s traveled as much as I have.

I also want to mention that the Marriott Puerto Vallarta makes their own tequila. You can try it at their tequila and ceviche bar, or you can take home a bottle at their gift shop. I’m not a huge hard liquor person, but I did enjoy their tequila, especially their classic margarita.

Next to the pool, they also have a coconut stand where you can order fresh coconuts to enjoy by the pool. We also took at ceviche-making class, and it was the best ceviche I ever ate.

Overall, there are tons of amazing food and drink options right at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta, so if you never want to leave the luxurious hotel, you don’t have to!

The truest test as to whether a hotel is a good one is if you’re willing to go back. I talked to several guests on the day I enjoyed time at the pool and all of them were returning guests. Honestly, I understand why. The amenities are amazing, the food and drinks are great, the pool is unparalleled and the service was the best.

If you’re considering a trip to Puerto Vallarta, I highly suggest this Marriott property. I’ve stayed at Marriott properties all over the world, and I have to say this is one of my favorites. I’m not just saying that because they hosted me, either. I truly loved my 5 days at this hotel and I cannot wait to go back.

[…] While I was in Puerto Vallarta, I was able to check out two gorgeous spas. The Marriott Puerto Vallarta, where we stayed, had a lovely spa and I got to experience their soaking tubs. This spa felt more authentic to the region – they had a lot of touches of Mexico and Mexican culture throughout. You can read all about my time at the Marriott PV here. […]

Another unarmed Black man was senselessly murdered by a police officer. Please don’t talk about the fact that he had a warrant. Please don’t talk about the fact that he entered his vehicle. Neither of those justify the use of deadly force on an unarmed man who was not threatening the officer. Please don’t talk to me about the ‘mistake’ the officer made using a gun instead of a taser. An innocent man’s life was taken because of that officer’s haste.

Our criminal justice system is broken. Officers need more training around their implicit bias toward Black and brown communities. Clearly they need de-escalation training as well. Why are cops so quick to kill Black men?
