The Doralto: The Little Known Alternative to the Margarita

Why Do We Need an Alternative to the Margarita?

We started thinking about what would be a nice alternative to the margarita because Cinco De Mayo is around the corner. It’s a relatively big deal here in Arizona. The Mexican celebration of the Battle of Puebla has been effectively appropriated into an eating and drinking holiday. It’s kind of like a Mexican-inspired version of St. Patrick’s Day, which many now call “Cinco de Drinko.”

Most of the drinking includes tequila, in various forms of margarita or as shot, and beer. What else ya got?

After some internet searching, we found the understated but seemingly classic Doralto. The Doralto is the perfect Cinco de Mayo drink because it still uses classic tequila-like so many people drink, but it’s not your typical margarita. The Doralto has a bubbly kick to it. The fresh lemon juice and bitters amplify the citrus flavor.

If you like a traditional rocks version of a margarita, you should try the Doralto, which we think is the perfect elevated margarita alternative. It’s super easy to make and it was a great recipe and you’ll be the cool one at the bar or party who takes the road less traveled.

  • Wowza!
It's cool and rainy in the valley today, but when this came up in my Pinterest feed, I couldn't resist trying it. So incredibly refreshing! The lemon is a wonderful change. These will be in heavy rotation during our blistering summers.
    Thank you, Stacey!
