I recently got this cute crochet cover up that doubles as a dress for a nighttime look. So I thought it would be fun to show how to style this knitted beach dress in two ways. When I got this dress, I wasn’t sure I’d be that into it. I don’t really wear beige too often because it’s too close to my skin tone. However, I love the cut of this dress so much, so the color has grown on me.
This crochet beach cover up is a bit more revealing than things I normally wear. If you’ve seen the ‘naked dress’ episode on Sex and the City, this dress totally reminds me of that. If you’re going to wear it as a cover up, then it’s totally fine over a suit. But if you’re going to wear it as a crochet dress like I did, then you need to have the right undergarments. I wore both a nude bra and nude underwear because the dress is definitely see-through. You could also wear a slip underneath if you want to be a little more conservative. This nude slip would be perfect.
How to Take a Cover Up From Day to Night
I chose to show you two ways to style this crochet cover up because I thought it would be fun to show how easy it is to go from a day to night look simply by changing up your accessories. Shoes make such a big impact on a look. I chose gold sandals for day and night but the heel is what really changes up the look for evening. Adding a heel always dresses up a look. Plus, these gold sequins heels add so much sparkle to the look. Changing out your bag will also have a major impact. A larger bag is great for day, but a clutch is perfect for evening. I also added a hat for day, which gives a much more beachy vibe. For evening, adding jewelry is a great way to dress-up the look. I love gold in the summer (well, really year-round), because it looks so good with a tan. Plus, gold pairs really well with beige. Layer on the bracelets and statement earrings for your evening look.
Overall, I absolutely love this crochet cover up dress for summer. The neutral color will work so well over pretty much all of my swimsuits. That’s why I absolutely love beige and ivory cover-ups. They look great with multi-colored and printed suits and black suits. Black cover-ups aren’t quite as versatile with every style of suit, which is why I do prefer lighter-colored beach cover ups.
