How to Make the Ultimate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

If you know me well, you know I love peanut butter. Did you know it’s National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month? We get a whole month. So in honor of that, I decided to try making the ultimate peanut butter rice Krispie treats. Although I didn’t think I could ever top my beloved Special K bars, I have to say, these treats are really great too. I personally adore the chocolate peanut butter combination. But, if you’re not as much of a chocolate lover, then I think this recipe is for you.

If you’ve made any type of Krispie treats at home, you know they are pretty easy to make. What makes these peanut butter rice Krispie bars a bit different is that I added a few ingredients to really amp up the peanut butter flavor. Rather than just adding peanut butter, I also added peanut butter powder and peanut butter chips. They are oh so very peanut buttery, which I really love.

I chose to put the chips at the bottom of the pan and then press the Krispie and marshmallow mixture into the pan. That way, all of the peanut butter chips end up on the top of the peanut butter rice Krispie treats when you flip them over. If you like, you could also mix the chips directly into the mixture so they are evenly dispersed throughout treats.

These peanut butter rice Krispie treats take hardly any time to make. They are the perfect treat to make for your kids after school or for a get-together when you don’t have a lot of time. For the peanut butter lovers in your life, I promise these will be a huge hit.

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

Ingredients

1 stick of salted butter
1 10-ounce bag of mini marshmallows
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
2 tablespoon peanut butter powder
7 cup Rice Krispies
1/2 cup peanut butter chips

Directions

Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with the butter wrapper. Pour the peanut butter chips into the baking pan and spread them to cover evenly. In a large bowl microwave-safe bowl, add butter and peanut butter and mix together. Add marshmallows and peanut butter powder. Heat until marshmallows are puffy and the butter mixture is melted in the microwave, around 2-3 minutes. Remove bowl from microwave and immediately add the Rice Krispies to the marshmallow mixture. Using a wooden spoon or firm spatula, stir to coat them completely. Scrape the mixture into the prepared baking pan and, using a sheet of wax paper, or your hand covered with baking spray, press evenly on the mixture to compact it. Let the Rice Krispie treats cool completely, then cut them into squares and serve.
