Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. It also happens to be the second-biggest U.S. holiday after Christmas. And it’s no wonder why. What’s not to like about Halloween? It’s all about dressing in fun costumes and eating candy! This year, I’ve gotten more into decorating for Halloween too. I was searching for a Halloween advent calendar, but most of them felt really cheesy and juvenile. I decided to make a days until Halloween pumpkin craft because it felt a bit more chic and also interactive.
How to Make a Days Until Halloween Pumpkin Craft
If you’re not that crafty, that’s ok! This countdown to Halloween pumpkin craft is super easy to make. It only requires a few items, and literally, anyone can do it. To start, you will need to get a foam pumpkin. I got the 9-inch size, but they also make larger and smaller versions. I think the 13-inch size could be fun so there is more space for your kids to doodle. My kids had a lot of fun drawing on our pumpkin once it was complete.
Assuming you want to make a black pumpkin as I did, then you should get black chalk spray paint. They do have other colors, like white and grey, if you don’t want to do black. I sprayed my pumpkin with 2-3 coats of spray paint to keep it completely covered. It didn’t take very long to dry at all. I sprayed mine outside on a garbage bag and it dried it less than 30 minutes.
While the paint was drying, I used my Cricut Joy to make the “days until Halloween” letters with white smart vinyl. Its really easy to design and print letters using the Cricut. But, if you don’t have one, you can still make the same concept using stencils and white paint markers. Another option would be to use chalk to write the entire thing. You could totally get colored chalk too – I just chose to use white.
Once the letters are printed out – you’ll want to use your Cricut tools to remove the vinyl and gently attach it to the pumpkins. The final step is to write the countdown to Halloween depending on how many days until Halloween. It is such an easy and adorable pumpkin craft that your kids will love too. If you’re looking for a fun way to get your whole family excited about the upcoming holiday, this is the craft for you! My kids love being able to countdown the days and it’s so fun to see their excitement.
