Here are Long Sleeve Babydoll Dresses Under $30 That I Love

As a curvy girl, one fashion trend I always avoid is the babydoll dress. They generally just don’t look very good on my figure because they lack shape. Since I have wide hips. babydoll dresses tend to look like a big tent on me. I need dresses that define my waistline, which is why I usually opt for a-line or wrap dresses. I think a lot of plus-size women can relate – anything that has too much material can be overwhelming on already larger frames. However, when I saw this long sleeve babydoll dress in a velvet/suede material, I knew I wanted to try it. I thought this one might be more flattering because it has buttons all the way down the front, which helps to elongate the look. Plus, it has a v-neck with a collared neck, which also adds shape to the dress.

To my delight, this dress does look pretty cute on me. The above the knee length shows enough skin to off-set the otherwise bulky feel of the dress. Since it was pretty short on me, I actually opted to wear this babydoll dress with knee-high boots.  I thought the suede of my boots looked really cute with the suede/corduroy feel of the dress. Adding such dressy boots definitely dressed up the entire look. This babydoll dress would also look cute with chunky white sneakers or even a pair of booties.

I chose to elevate this all-black look by carrying my classic Chanel quilted bag. I’ve had this bag since the mid-2000s. I don’t carry it all too often, but it is such a classic piece that I love to pair with less expensive pieces. I really love the high-low option. I’ve talked about it before, but I’m a big fan of investing in high-quality bags and shoes and spending less on my clothes that go out of style more quickly. It’s easier to follow fashion trends in clothes than in accessories, in my opinion.

After the fact, I wish I paired this long sleeve babydoll dress with a bolder lip. I think the all-black look would have been great with a bold red lip or even a bright pink lip. I kept my makeup really neutral, and I think I could use a pop of color with this look. Better luck styling next time!
