A couple weeks ago, I made this apple slab pie recipe and I ended up having way too many apples to fit into the pie. What do you do with a bunch of diced apples that already have sugar and cinnamon on them? You make an easy apple crumble recipe, of course!

Unlike a lot of baking recipes, this is not one you can mess up. Its nearly impossible not to get this one right and I promise it will be delicious.

How to Make an Easy Apple Crumble

Stacey shares a super easy apple crumble recipe that anyone can make. This recipe is super simple for even the most novice baker.

Ingredients

  • For the Apple Filling:
  • 2 pounds apples, peeled, cored and chopped into approximately 1/2-inch chunks (about 4 cups)
  • A squeeze of lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon table salt
  • For the Crumble:
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

    1. In a large bowl, combine diced apples with lemon juice and mix. Then add sugar, spices, and corn starch. Pour into a 9-inch square baking dish.
    2. In a separate bowl, combine crumble ingredients. Use hands to combine butter until crumbly and sprinkle over top of apple mixtures. Press lightly.
    3. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 40-50 minutes, until bubbly, caramelized and golden brown on top. Enjoy warm with a scoop of ice cream!
