How to Get an Easy At Home Workout

This at home workout post is sponsored by Ugi® ball. All opinions are my own.

Like a lot of moms, I’m extremely busy. I have two kids under 8, I work full-time at a University, and I also somehow manage to maintain nearly a full-time side-hustle as a blogger, while trying to also fit in family time and parenting duties. It’s a lot. The first thing to go is a solid fitness routine, so I’ve had to get really creative to find other ways to get more exercise throughout my day, which is why I wanted to share at home workout ideas.

Since moving to LA, it’s been really difficult for me to find time to go to the gym. Now that we are all staying home a lot more, it’s not even an option to go to the gym. Thus, I’ve had to figure out other ways to fit in exercise without actually going to the gym. Here are a few ideas for how you can get more workouts in at home.

Invest in Multi-Use Equipment

I recently was gifted a Ugi® ball which is amazing for multi-purpose workouts. It comes with an instructional booklet that offers 5 days of full-body training, including a DVD and instructions with 150 exercises to try. Ugi® at Home Kit comes with the ball of your choice (6,8, 10 or 12 lbs), and a 30-minute functional workout system and a no-nonsense guide to making good eating choices.

The Ugi® ball is 15″ in diameter and comes in 4 weights. It has the squish of a beanbag and the bounce of a stress ball. It is the first of its kind and is the perfect tool for use in stability, strength, and endurance training. Ugi® balls are hand-stuffed with a combination of recycled rubber and an exclusive polyester fiberfill that maintains shape and elasticity. They are made out of a highly durable, wax-coated, polyvinyl material.

I love the Ugi® ball because it really is a great tool for a full-body workout. It also takes up minimal space and my kids love to roll around on it too.

You can save 20% on the Ugi® ball through 5/17/2020 with code STACEY20.

Try Functional Fitness

There’s no gym equipment required to do certain functional fitness activities like squats, lunges, and pushups. You can pretty much do these activities anywhere, even without gym clothes or tennis shoes. If you have a few minutes break or you are feeling tired or lethargic, why not break out 25 squats, 25 lunges and 25 pushups (girl ones count too). I am certain that will get your blood flowing and will get you stronger in no time.

Play Harder with Your Kids (or Your Pet)

Let’s be honest, our kids love it when we play with them. I can’t even tell you how many times my kids have asked me to play tag or run races with them. Most of the time, I decline the requests. Playing with our kids is a really simple and meaningful way to fit more exercise into our days. Honestly, I bet it’s one of the at-home workout ideas you never even thought of. Thinking back on my own childhood, I can distinctly remember moments when my parents played physical games with me – shooting hoops with my dad, running races with him, playing catch. Even though my mom wasn’t into sports, the times she tried to play catch with me really stand out in my memory.

This is giving me incentive, to get more physically active with my kids on a regular basis. They just started riding bikes. I can’t wait until they get a bit better so we can start going on bike rides together. In the summer, I also like to swim with them, so those are a couple of fun ways to get involved with the kids in the summer.

If you don’t have kids, then find more opportunities to play with your dog. Play fetch but also chase your dog. Take your dog for longer walks. There are a lot of ways you can fit in more activity.

Walk More

This is probably an obvious recommendation, but I’ve been trying to walk a lot more during the pandemic. I’ve been shooting to reach 10K steps a day, although some days I only get to 7 or 8K. Unless you live in a place where it is highly populated and possibly unsafe to walk, there is no reason not to try to get more steps in. It’s such an easy way to exercise more and also feel healthier.

These are just a few at home workout ideas I think you should try to incorporate to be a little more active. I hope you find them helpful. Definitely, leave me a comment and let me know how you’re incorporating more fitness into your daily routine at home.
