Here are the 6 Benefits of a Meal Delivery Service

By Stacey Freeman Leave a Comment

This post is sponsored by Nourish Foods Co. All opinions are my own.

When Nourish Food Co. contacted me to try out their meals, I was dubious. I had tried some of those meal prep subscription boxes in the past, and I was always left underwhelmed.  Although the idea behind those meal prep boxes is a good one – save time, make cooking easier – I just never loved how the food actually tasted. Most of the meals I made with those kits were not any better than something I could cook for myself at home. By no means am I the best cook, but I do know my way around the kitchen well enough. I have no interest in paying for a meal kit that costs more and doesn’t even taste better, than something I could come up with on my own.

So when Nourish offered to send me a couple weeks worth of meals, I was leery, at best. Despite my initial hesitation, I was seriously impressed with Nourish for a lot of reasons – the food quality and taste being at the very top of my list. If you’re interested in trying out a meal delivery service for yourself, here are the 6 benefits I found.

6 Benefits of a Meal Delivery Service

1. No Cooking Is Required

Probably the number one benefit of a meal delivery service is the fact that you don’t have to cook. The Nourish meals I ordered came completely pre-made, so all I had to do was heat them up in the oven or microwave. Depending on the food inside, I would choose the oven or microwave (i.e. sweet potato fries taste much better crispy, right out of the oven). I loved that I didn’t have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I still got completely healthy and balanced meals for my family and me.

2. Less Grocery Shopping Needed

Although I still had to go to the grocery store for some staples – like fresh fruit, milk, bread, cereal, and lunch foods for my kids’ at school, this meal delivery service required a lot less grocery shopping than I was used to.

3. Eat Healthy Foods

I was really surprised by just how healthy the Nourish meals were. I ate way more vegetables and healthy proteins during the weeks that I had the Nourish meals. They found unique ways to incorporate vegetables, and I really enjoyed the wide variety of produce they incorporated. They also used really high-quality ingredients, so I felt good about giving these meals to my family.

4. Try New Foods

One of the things I loved best about Nourish was that the meals were always unique and different each week. There were a lot of things I never even would have thought to make, but really enjoyed. Probably my favorite meal was this baked sweet potato with ground beef and red and green peppers. It has Mexican-Inspired flavors and it was delicious. My kids also liked many of the foods. There was a zucchini souffle they really liked. They also loved the spaghetti squash bake and the almond-flour-crusted chicken tenders.

5. Less Food Waste

So I know it might seem counter-intuitive, but I actually think I wasted way less food by getting a meal delivery service. When I purchase all of the produce, meats, and all of the other things required to cook at home, I often have a lot of food scraps or leftovers that never get eaten. With the meal subscription service, I found nothing was wasted. Most meals were individually portioned. Some of the family meals were a bit larger, so I would save the leftovers for the next meal.

6. More Affordable Than I Expected

Although I was gifted several weeks worth of meals, I did a lot of price comparisons, and this meal delivery service is quite affordable relative to other meal delivery and meal subscription boxes. I even talked to my friend who had recently tried one of those meal boxes where all the ingredients are delivered but you have to cook them. She actually told me her box of foods she had to cook were actually more expensive than my Nourish meals. That seemed crazy to me. Why would I pay more money to have to still cook all of the foods?

If you’re looking for a healthy meal delivery service that also offers variety, and convenience, you should definitely check out Nourish.
