Here Are The Best Healthy Skin Tips I Learned During Rapid U
This post is sponsored by Neutrogena. All opinions are my own.
When fall and winter hit, does your skin freak out? Mine becomes super dry and often irritated. All the wind, cold weather and lack of humidity really takes a toll. But you can maintain healthy skin all year long, and last week,I learned some new healthy skin tips from my friends at Neutrogena.
They invited me to attend their “Rapid U”, basically a university-style educational experience so I could learn new tricks and healthy skin tips. Although I’m always up to learn new things, the most unexpected outcome of the event was getting to hang out with some really amazing blogger babes. Since I had such an amazing experience, I wanted to share a recap with you along with my top healthy skin tips to maintain great skin all year long.
When we first arrived at the Liberty hotel, our rooms were stocked with Neutrogena products to try. I’m always excited to try new things – especially their new Retinol Oil. Next, we met in the lobby and headed to dinner. I finally got to meet one of my IG friends in real life. Michelle was even sweeter in person. I sat next to Ashley at dinner, and we definitely hit it off. It was a fun night.
The following morning, we were pampered with blowouts and room service. My stylist used to work in LA and told me about a few of her clients – Paula Abdul and Natalie Portman! It was a super fun way to start the morning, since I never get blow outs. Next, we headed to the gorgeous Boston Public Library where we were greeted with the most adorable set up. Each of our desks had an apple, a bottle of the Retinol Oil, a notebook, pencil, eraser, and some information about skin health.
Try Facial Yoga
The first session was about facial yoga. I had never heard of facial yoga, but our instructor basically explained that you can take up to 3 years off of your age, just by activating facial muscles you don’t usually use. You can learn more about facial yoga at Happy Face yoga. I’m definitely going to try to incorporate some of his exercises, especially to maintain my jaw line and work to keep my cheeks raised.
Your Diet Matters
What you eat (or don’t eat) can play a major role in your skin health. We had a chance to talk to a nutritionist and a molecular biologist, both who touted the importance of a healthy diet. Maintaining a healthy weight, and eating a lot of fruits, vegetables and fiber-rich foods are proven ways to maintain healthy skin. Fruits and vegetables are also water-rich, which is a great way to keep your hydration level high.
Stay Hydrated
Water is one of the most important things that help to maintain healthy skin. Of all the healthy skin tips, drinking enough water – at least 6 cups a day – is non-negotiable. Hydrated skin is less likely to wrinkle, so it helps us to keep our skin healthy. Also, cut out the caffeine – it actually dehydrates you and will not help your looks and speeds up aging.
Exercise at Least 15 Minutes a Day
The biologist told us about how important exercise is in order to maintain healthy skin and slow the aging process. She said that several studies said you should get at least 15 minutes per day.
Use Quality Products
Most beauty products won’t drastically change your skin. However, they can help you to maintain and improve your skin quality over time. I’m not using this post as a way to promote specific products, you have to try them for yourself to see what works best for you. I do know products with retinol are proven to improve skin overtime, so definitely check out their new retinol oil!
Try Meditation
The biologist told us that meditating for even 12 minutes a day can have a positive effect on aging and skin health. A major reason for this is that meditation is a great way to destress. Stress is a major cause of aging and poor health, so it’s important to find ways to destress.
Overall, I had the best time at Rapid U. (I now have a master’s degree in skin health ;)). I learned a lot of useful tips for healthy skin, and I met a lot of great ladies. Plus, I have a bunch of new products I can try to keep my skin looking it’s best. I hope you found these healthy skin tips useful and I hope it helps you get your skin in it’s best shape yet.
