Everything You Need to Know About the Tie Front Shirt Trend
Last weekend, I was at the mall with one of my dear friends. She was shopping for an upcoming shoot for her new website and asked me to help style her. We had a great time and I even found a few things for myself for Fashion Week. (I’m going to NY next week for my first fashion week and I can’t wait to tell you all about it). Although I wouldn’t say it was an overly successful trip, I couldn’t help but notice the tie front shirt trend was everywhere.
When I first noticed the tie front shirt trend, I was a bit skeptical. Most of the shirts looks majorly cropped and not that cute. After further inspection, I’ve seen several tie front shirts that I think I’d wear. I’ve pulled some of my current favorites for you to check out. The ones I like best tend to be prints or stripes. I do also like when button-downs have the tie front detail. I actually hate button down shirts. they seem so stuffy to me. The tie front detail and the flowy fabrics work so much better to make the button down feel more casual.
If you would like to try out the tie front shirt trend, I definitely suggest you start with throwing on a pair of your favorite jeans. I think they look best with high-waisted jeans. Depending on the tie front shirt you pick, you might look great with ripped or torn jeans, or it might look more polished with classic skinny jeans. Just make sure to avoid overly flowy bottoms if your top is flowy.
I also love the idea of styling one of the button down tie front shirts over your swimsuit top and a pair of cut-offs. It can feel like a casual swim cover-up, which I think looks so chic. Despite my original opinion, I’d definitely planning to try out the tie front shirt trend for spring. If you’re planning to give it a try, here are some of my current favorites.
