4 Important Trends You Need to See from New York Fashion Week 2017
I almost attended fashion week this February, but then I didn’t. I was all set to attend several shows, but then life got in the way. I’m really hoping I’ll be able to attend in September. Since I couldn’t make it there, I still wanted to review some of my favorite NYFW Fall 2017 looks. Here are just a few of the stand-out pieces that walked NYFW Fall 2017.
Nicholas K – Bold Military Vibe
I love Nicolas K’s bold choice of burnt orange and the military references throughout. The way the clothing is draped makes it interesting, even in neutral black and beige.
Alexander Wang – All Black Everything
The last few seasons, Alexander Wang has focused on sporty and athletic. For fall 2017, he’s transitioned to a darker feel with a punk-grunge motif. I love his use of leather mixed in and the heavy feeling of his accessories are so interesting.
Ryan Roche – 80s Vibe
This is my first introduction to Ryan Roche, but I love his use of bright colors, like this cherry red knit dress. It has a subtle 80s vibe with a stronger shoulder. His entire collection has touches that reference back to the 80s, but in a modern way.
Calvin Klein – Underwear is Back
I love how the Calvin Klein collection has punchy colors mixed in with darker neutrals. I’ve noticed a lot of celebrities rocking their Calvins on social media recently, and this collection brings their iconic underwear back on the scene. The use of the peek-a-boo Calvins is also a strong 80s reference, but the feel is much more modern this time around.
