I love shrimp on the grill for two reasons. First, it is a great source of protein. Second, it cooks up really quickly. When I was invited to create a recipe using the new Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread, I thought of shrimp right away. Why? Because shrimp pairs well with a sweet and spicy sauce, and I knew I could create a simple strawberry jalapeno glaze that would compliment the shrimp perfectly. This grilled shrimp recipe is super quick and easy to make. The strawberry jalapeno glaze takes less than 5 minutes to create. Once the glaze is made and the shrimp are on the skewers, it took less than 5 minutes to cook the shrimp on the grill. The entire recipe can easily be made in 15 minutes! Plus, it tastes delicious. It is a modern twist on a sweet and sour shrimp. This is a perfect summer recipe for a bbq or a quick meal at home. This easy grilled shrimp would also make a great appetizer for a party. The glaze is also better for you because the star ingredient, the Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread, is naturally sweetened with honey, and the rest of the ingredients have no added sugar. As a cooking tip, the reason the shrimp are straight rather than curled up is because they cook more evenly this way. Shrimp tend to cook very quickly and when they are overcooked they get really rubbery. To avoid overcooking them, place them on the skewers like I did to ensure even cooking. If you would like to recreate this easy grilled shrimp recipe, you can earn $1.00 off Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Fruit Spread (they have lots of other fruit flavors too!) with this Ibotta offer. You can pick up your own jar at Walmart! Summer may be winding down, but this easy grilled shrimp is the perfect recipe that you can whip up in minutes for your next party or get together.
Easy Grilled Shrimp with Strawberry Jalapeno Glaze
1 pound of uncooked shrimp
4 Tbsp. Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread
2 tsp. canola oil
1 shallot, finely diced
2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
1 Tbsp. low sodium soy sauce
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 lime, juiced
In a small saucepan, heat the canola oil. Add the shallots and jalapeno and sweat until softened, about 1-2 minutes.
Add in the Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir to combine then bring to a simmer for about 1-2 minutes. Take the mixture off the heat and stir in the lime juice.
Once you grill the first side of the shrimp, flip it over and generously brush the glaze over the shrimp. Repeat on both sides. You can also serve a side of the glaze as a dipping sauce.
