I’m not a huge skirt person. I just recently decided I can wear pencil skirts, after years of avoiding them. The same goes for a maxi skirt. I’ve worn maxi dresses every now and then, but I generally stick to knee-length or midi-length skirts or dresses because I find them more flattering on my figure. But just like the pencil skirt rule I thought I had, I recently realized I can wear a maxi skirt if I style it right.

My mind was changed when I found this ultra comfortable, flowy maxi skirt in a vibrant teal color. Here are the four practical reasons to try a maxi skirt this summer.

If it weren’t obvious, maxi skirts are ultra comfortable and easy pieces to add to your wardrobe. The one I own is a pull-on style, so there aren’t any zippers or buttons to fuss with, making it perfect for summer. It is light-weight, loose in the right places, and flows so nicely in the breeze.

One of my favorite things about maxi skirts is that they look equally great with a t-shirt, cropped top or even a bikini top as they do with a nicer top. You can wear them with flip flops or wedges for day, or throw on some fancier heels for a night out. A maxi skirt like the one I have works equally well for day or night because the material looks fancy, with a silky vibe, while being so comfortable and easy.

If you don’t love your legs, they are ultra pale like mine, or haven’t shaved in awhile, a maxi skirt can hide all of those things. I personally like the thought of being a little more covered up on the bottom in the summer, but at the same time, because they material is light-weight, it doesn’t feel hot or weighed down like pants might feel.

If you happen to be pregnant or in the midst of weight loss, a pull-on-style midi skirt is perfect. It can work well with your baby bump as you can put the elastic waist above or  below your bump. If you are losing weight, an elastic waist means it can work with your changing shape.

  1. I’ve just started to fall in love with maxi skirts (and skirts in general) in the last year or two. My favorite thing about maxi skirts is that I feel like I look a little more dressed up than when I’m in jeans, but it’s even more comfortable! I’m a huge fan of things that are cute AND comfy.
