With Memorial Day right around the corner, May is a great month to find a lot of deals. Hit the stores early in May for sales on spring clothing, as retailers are trying to make more room for summer clothing. You can still find good prices on small kitchen appliances and May is also a great time to invest in home goods, like refrigerators and new carpeting. Here are the five categories of what to buy in May on discount.

May 4^th is Star Wars Day – no joke. So if you are a major Star Wars fan, early May is a great time to find deals on discounted Star Wars merchandise, like movies or action figures.

Deals on Spring Clothing

Memorial Day spring clothing shopping deals start in early May. You don’t have to wait until right before the holiday to find good prices on spring and even summer clothing. I’ve noticed a lot of retailers are trying to clear out their early spring inventory with 50-60% off of the retail price. Refrigerators and KitchenAid Mixers on Sale

Just like in April, many small appliances are still on sale in May. You can also score major deals on refrigerators, besides just small kitchen appliances. According to this video, KitchenAid mixers are on sale in May, which is a rare find.  Generally, most large appliances go on sale later in the year, but May is a great time to buy refrigerators, as the new models are on their way.

Mattresses are up to 50% off

New mattresses come out throughout the year, but May tends to be a good month to find good prices.  Lifehacker said there is generally a decent price drop on mattresses in May, up to 50% off!

Buy Carpet in May

If you need to replace your home carpet, May is the month to do it. According to NBC, May 15 – June 10 is the best time to find great prices on carpeting.
