I’m going to attend the Oscars someday. I don’t have grand plans to take up acting, I just want to hang out on the red carpet in a really fabulous gown. Since I’m not going this year, I thought it would be fun to put together a look I’d wear on the Oscars red carpet if I were invited.
I based my look entirely around this ah-mazing Zuhair Murad dress from Paris haute couture fashion week. I mean, how gorgeous is this dress! The floral applique, the ethereal layers and sheer panels, the perfect pastel blue. I also love that the dress has sleeves — I prefer dresses with sleeves to help balance my broad shoulders.
For the accessories, I chose to add a lot of crystals, and diamonds for sparkle and shine. I kept the colors fairly neutral in silvers and whites so the accessories compliment, but wouldn’t compete with the dress.
Since the dress is such a statement and has a lot of details already, I’d keep my hair really sleek and pull it back in a pretty chignon, like Emma Stone from the 2012 Oscars. For my makeup, I’d choose a really fresh spring look with pink cheeks and lips, and light pastels on the eyes. I’d use a highlighter on my cheeks for an extra light-catching effect.
Even though I’m not attending this year, I’d definitely make the Oscars red carpet best-dressed list with this look. I can’t wait until I actually get to attend the Oscars so I get to play dress-up.
I’m obsessed with my Oscars look, what do you think? Will you watch the Oscars red carpet or the awards show this year?
