Trend Sight: Long Vest Trend

One of my favorite fall trends is the long vests I’ve seen from Dior, Givenchy and others. I love the long vest trend because it can be worn so many ways. Buttoned up and worn alone as a pseudo-dress, belted tightly at the waist with long flowing pants, paired with shorts for a fun going-out look. Long vests are a perfect work staple, but can easily transition to a night look, especially the tuxedo-inspired styles.

The long vest trend can work on any figure, you just have to pay attention to your proportions. If you are a shorter gal, make sure you pair the long vest over a dress, skinny pants or shorts. You need to show some skin, either on your arms or legs to balance out the length of the vest. If you are a taller gal, you can pair the vest with almost anything, but make sure to accentuate your waist-line and also show some skin—bare shoulders, a deep v-neck, etc.  Curvy girls, my advice is always to show off your figure by cinching in at the waist and highlighting your best feature. If you love your legs, show them off by topping a dress or shorts with the vest. If you love your arms, wear the vest alone with some straight-leg pants.

To show you the range of long vests out there, I chose 8 that I’m loving for fall.  Which one do you like? Are you going to try the long vest trend this fall?

I really like the color of the Forever 21 one, not so much the fit. The Marissa Webb one is genius though. :] // itsCarmen.com ☼ ☯

Totally agree. I like that Forever 21 styled it with tight fitting underlayer and a little skin, which helps balance the boxy vest proportions:)
