Stacey’s Top 5 Faves from New York Fashion Week Fall 2014

New York Fashion Week wrapped up last Thursday. A personal goal of mine is to one day attend some of my favorite designers’ shows. However, this month, I watched via social media and website recaps while adjusting to bringing my newborn daughter home late last week.

Here are my top five favorite designers from the Fall 2014 shows.

1. Oscar De La Renta

Oscar De La Renta’s collection was by far the stand-out of the week for me. I’m obsessed with his use of black and white, bold color additions, lux textures and use of intricate lace and embellishments. Here are just a few of my favorite looks

2. Carolina Herrera

Like De La Renta, Carolina Herrera always brings a feminine touch to her collections that I adore. Her looks reminded me of a throwback to the 60’s and 70’s with geometric prints. I especially liked this black and white suit with a cape and her simpler black and white dresses.

3. Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka didn’t disappoint with flirty silhouettes and feminine details like little bows. I also like their use of lux fabrics and subtle use of metallics. I could do without the fur hats and wraps and the animal print pieces in their collection, but that is merely a personal taste preference.

4. Milly by Michelle Smith

I loved Milly by Michelle Smith’s collection because I saw so many wearable pieces, especially her coats. I thought her styling choices were really interesting, especially when she paired flowy skirts with harder textured coats and tops.

5. Narciso Rodriguez

When it comes to Narciso Rodriguez’ collection, it’s all about the tailoring. He still featured the color blocking trend, which I’m sort of over. This preference not withstanding, I’m obsessed with his structured jackets, rich colors and simplicity.

Did you watch any of the New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 runway shows? Which designers were your favorites?
