The pleating seemed like a no-go. Pleats take me right back to the 80s. I didn’t like them then, and I was so sure I wouldn’t like them now.
I was so sure the pleating at the waist would only draw attention to my post-baby pooch (that I never quite got rid of). When I saw these army green paperbag pants with a cropped leg, I thought they’d be so perfect for spring. Even though I didn’t think they’d work, I decided to order them anyway.

The minute I tried them on, I was ultra surprised at the great fit. They hugged my curves and showed off my hour glass shape. The waist band actually folds over and then ties, so it adds extra definition to my waist.
I plan to wear these all spring long paired with a thin t-shirt tucked in, or a cropped top. The waist of the pants is so high that it doesn’t really show much skin. I’m still not sure I should wear cropped tops. So, I like that these paperbag pants allow me to wear cropped tops but not show too much belly.
I paired the pants with an oversized custom denim jacket and some suede strappy heels. This look is a little more adventurous than my normal clothing choices, but I absolutely love this look. I definitely think these pants will be a wardrobe staple for me.
