This is How to Rock a Black Wool and Leather Jacket

Since I couldn’t be at fashion week this February, I wanted to at least reminisce about my last time there. Last year, I was lucky enough to attend in both February and September. I hope I’ll get to go back this September, as I miss NY like crazy and the energy of Fashion Week is un-matched. Since I didn’t go this time, I decided to shoot a look wearing this wool and leather jacket I bought at a sample sale last year while attending.

During one of my free afternoons, I headed down to Soho. I found a really amazing sample sale where I scored this gorgeous wool and leather jacket. I absolutely love New York sample sales. One time in NY, I was able to attend a Paul Andrew sample sale and scored the most gorgeous heels. Another time, I hit up a Rebecca Minkoff one and found some great flats. Every time I’m in the city, I always try to sneak in at least one, if I can.

Most of the time, Sample Sales can be like shopping the mega clearance section. There are usually swarms of people, items are strewn all over the place, and it takes a lot of patience to sift through everything. BUT, if you’re patient enough to hang out, you just might find an amazing piece. Exhibit A – this wool and leather jacket. I remember, I had an arm full of items to carry back to the dressing room. Nothing else was even close to something I’d own. Then I tried on this jacket, it fit like a glove. and I was so impressed with the craftsmanship. It is made of lovely wool, butter soft leather, and is lined in a lovely grey silk.

I knew it had to come home with me. I did a quick google search to determine the retail price.  It was over $300. At more than 60% off at just under $100, I knew it was a good deal I couldn’t pass up. I didn’t just buy it because of the great price. Also, I knew it was a piece I would keep in my closet for years to come. I love collecting jackets because they are so versatile and carry over from season to season and year to year.

I decided to style it with black skinny jeans, heels, gold, and red lips for a slightly more dressed up look that could work for a dinner out or drinks with the girls. This wool and leather jacket also works well with ripped jeans and sneakers. It looks equally cute thrown over a midi bodycon dress I own.

If you’d like to find your own wool and leather jacket, here are a few of my favorites.
