Reasons Why I Love this Periwinkle Dress

Have you noticed there are two colors – periwinkle blue and rose pink – dominating fashion lately? That’s probably because they are the Pantone colors of 2016. I previously discussed rose quartz, which I actually have been wearing a lot lately, but this is the first time I’m trying out the serenity color in this periwinkle dress.

The Midi Length

When I first saw this dress, I knew I had to try it on for two reasons. First, the just-below-the-knees-length works really well on my frame and second, I love the mesh and lacy material. If you haven’t tried the midi-length in dresses or skirts, what are you waiting for? Unless you are super short, this length will work on you. Even you ultra-petite girls can still wear midi lengths if you add high enough heels! If you’re still unsure about the midi-length, check out all the examples of why I love them.Beyond the perfect length dress, I also love the material used in this particular dress. The material falls somewhere between mesh and lace. I think it’s visually interesting and feels very light and airy for spring. Unlike some lace, this dress doesn’t weight you down and it isn’t stiff either.

Serenity Pantone Color

The only thing about this dress that gave me pause was the color. I was excited to try out the new Pantone color, but I honestly don’t wear very much blue. I wasn’t sure if the color would work on me. I tend to only wear navy blue, but I was happily surprised that the color of this periwinkle dress worked quite well.To style the dress, I added a cropped cardigan in a light color and paired it with a bright pink sandal for color contrast. I also threw on some jewelry for sparkle and carried a small pink clutch. I’m in love with this dress for so many reasons. I think this periwinkle dress is perfect for a wedding, graduation, or even for a day at the office. This will definitely be my go-to special occasion dress for the summer. I’m even thinking it might make its way into my suitcase for Italy as it is lightweight and doesn’t wrinkle. We’ll have to wait and see.Have you embraced the Pantone colors for 2016? What do you think of this periwinkle dress?
