Nautical in Newport Beach

When I moved to Orange County, I quickly realized that the need for swimwear had become a year-round necessity.  When I stumbled upon this t-shirt style one-piece, I immediately fell in love.  As I get older and the sun-spots start to appear, I have finally embraced sunscreen and sun protection and curse my high-school tanning-bed indiscretions.  This swimsuit’s fuller coverage protects the delicate chest and shoulders, and the navy stripe defines the waist for a slimming effect.

Since California summer nights are decidedly chilly, a sheer-sleeved cardigan, with a fun split-back detail, gives just enough coverage. The light-weight chambray shorts are perfect to throw over the suit for a bit more coverage and will easily fit into any summer wardrobe.  Given the potential to stop at the beach on a whim, this look can easily transition from the beach to lunch or happy hour afterward, especially with accessories.

Mixing metallics feels effortless and these metallic wedges are far more comfortable than heels, but more stylish than those ill-supporting rubber flip-flops. The large sunglasses and a sunhat are timelessly chic and give extra sun coverage.  After departing the beach, throwing on a shiny gold cuff and a bright coral-red lipstick with SPF add a touch of glamour.
