Valentine’s day is right around the corner. Whether you are planning a romantic dinner out, a night in with your man, or you are single and ready to mingle, here are three looks of what to wear for Valentine’s day that are perfect for each occasion.
I’m all about rocking a red dress for v-day, but why not try another romantic color that still conjures images of cupid? Vibrant purple is still feminine but not as obvious as red. I like the sheer look of this dress because it is sexy but still covered up. Pairing the dress with metallic heels and clutch is more dramatic than standard black options. Gem-tone dangling earrings draw attention to your face and compliment the color of the dress. Assuming you live in a cooler climate, you will need a simple topcoat to keep you warm. I love winter white coats because the color is more elegant and would look great with the metallic pieces in the look. A bronzed eye and pink glossy lips will complete this look.
Dinner at Home
Even if your man is making you dinner at home, you can still look pretty in pink. It’s not too much to wear a dress even for a dinner at home, but gray jeans and a cute top are a great alternative. Gray jeans are great because they are a little more dressed up and unexpected than your standard dark wash jeans. A spaghetti strapped top in bright pink is girly and sexy. In case you are feeling cold, throw on a leather trimmed bolero. You can certainly wear sky-high heels with this look if you love them or you know your man loves them, but I would opt for cute wedges or booties since you are staying in. Most men I know don’t love sticky lip gloss, so I suggest highlighting your cheeks with a creamy pink blush and going with a subtle smoky eye to complete the look.
Girls Night Out
If you are single, that doesn’t mean you are relegated to the couch to watch depressing movies on Valentine’s day. You should take your beautiful self out for a night with the girls. Don’t dress in drab and boring black. Display your confidence in a bold floral print body-con dress. The pink flower print is feminine and pretty. Not to mention, this dress exudes an air of self-confidence that men find sexy. Even though this dress is body conscious, it is covered up enough, so it is still classy. Since the dress print is the star of this look, keep your shoes and clutch more neutral in black. A leather trimmed coat is a great cover up piece to keep you warm if you are club hopping. A dangly silver bracelet is a simple addition to add a bit more shine to the look. Complete the look with a bright coral-pink lip and a strong cat eye, finished with highlighter on your brow bone and temples.
